Winter 2009

Well, today is the first day of "spring ahead" Daylight Savings Time. Yea, spring is on the way. It's been a tough winter in NW Ohio. We have had everything from freezing rain with 2 inches of ice, to 14 inches of snow, to -15 degree temps, even a couple of 60 degree days in early Feb, typical Ohio weather (a little bit of everything but nothing to extreme for any length of time).

Yesterday it was 65 degrees. I was outside cleaning the yard and noticed that the tulips and daffodils are starting to pop up. The robins are back and the birds were singing. Today, it's raining and 40 degrees (better than 20 and snow).

Last month was our second annual Valentine's wine tasting hosted with Darcy & Jeff. It was a delightful evening with friends and family. This year we had a great variety of wines and some very delicious food.

Two weeks ago we went on our annual winter outing with our friends Darcy & Jeff. It's always nice to get away for a few days to break up the winter blues. We went to our usual cabin @ Buck Creek State Park near Dayton, OH. We had some really great hikes, and in between hiking went to our usual lunch spot at Ye Old Tavern for a burger and beer.

Today we are celebrating Mitch's 55Th birthday. When Merrick (our 5 year old grandson) asked how old Papa was I told him "You are 5 right? He replied "yes". Well Papa is 55, his response was "WHOA".
